What comes to the mind on hearing the word JEWELRY?? A status symbol for some, a style statement for others, an investment or may be a classic fashion accessory for others. People perceive it the way they want to. Though whatever may be the perception but the fact of the matter still remains the same and i.e. that jewelry ultimately at first is a sure short way of enhancing your outlook and the beauty of your body, along with that jewelry always speaks of one’s status because as such buying Jewelry is quite an expensive shopping. Apart from accessory based jewelry; proper designer stuff which is made from metals like gold and silver and diamonds, platinum etc. is all that which is basically referred at first when we talk about jewelry and is quite costly to buy. As compared to the olden days when jewelry was just about wearing heavy bangles and neck pieces in simple shapes and that too only for women; today we have so many different varieties including exclusive designer jewelries which are like individual manufactured pieces; in different styles and along with that made in so many different materials. And it is quite interesting to know that nowadays we have exuberant jewelries being made for men as well.
Unlike the earlier days where jewelry was just made from a few metals namely gold and silver; in the present day we have so many different types materials which are even that heavily priced and besides are easily accessible. As such with the passing of time jewelry making and wearing gained a lot of popularity. As such in the past jewelry was popular only in women and young girls however in the modern day world, the macho men are no longer lacking behind. In fact they follow this trend equally as girls do. Men use jewelry in the form of rings, tie pins, brooches, buckles, shirt cuffs, ear pieces etc. it is surprising to know that in many cultures jewelry is used as a form of wealth and is not worn but stored. Jewelry mainly the one made from metals like gold, silver, platinum or precious stones like diamond or ant gemstone in particular is also referred as a richness symbol and also as capital or for financial purposes. It was a mind set of people in the olden day that families or individuals who possess more jewelry or similar ornaments were very rich and came from the royal inheritors however with the passing of time and change of living standards this thinking changed and over the time period the usage of jewelry came down to just being used to adorn your outlook and beauty by adding a bit of glamour and glitz to your looks wearing those sparkling jewelry pieces. And today people can be seen wearing jewelries and flaunting it endlessly till the end of the event in social gatherings and similar occasions like weddings, birthdays, receptions, inaugural functions, public gatherings etc. it is quite strange to know that in some countries like India jewelry is used as a religious ornament to adorn the idols of gods and goddesses. Whatever the uses may be, however jewelry is not specified for a typical user and so as in the past people have used it in numerous different ways and they continue to so till date. |
